Dragon's

Tale

Let me sing you a tale about a dragon that lived in a vale,
And a people who died when their old gods they left for their pride.
For in the old days, to their dragon protector they prayed,
And small was his price, just some treasure and meat would suffice.
And daily they'd come to the wood, cross the river to where the cave stood,
Then they'd marvel aloud when they heard the beast roar. ROAR !!
And they'd laugh and they'd dance like they should.

No child bride did he take for of dreams and starlight was his make,
Just a guardian of old, that the shamans of great stories told.
But a new time had come when the people now prayed to a one.
And the boys would be men, so they went and they built them a pen.
And the dragon he slept unawares, dreaming dreams of freedom not a snare,
As he turned in his sleep and let out a roar. ROAR !!
Let those in the village beware.

In the dawn of the morning they came, all the boys trying to make a mans name,
And they set up their trap. Swords and spears and great nets overlapped.
So they called to their god and they cursed the horned wyrm like a dog.
As his head did arise they moved to let loose their surprise.
But the dragon had heard of their plan, with his tail he mashed them to jam
And as their bodies did burn he let out a roar. ROAR !!
As back to the village they ran.

So the stories are told about a dragon that now hoarded gold,
And the price we all paid for an old lord so badly betrayed.
A beast full of hate for a people who set their own fate.
Into shadows he passed, the last one of his ancient caste.

Now the woods are all gone, there's an A Road where once was a pond
Gone too is the cave, now a Sainsbury's and a Quick Save.
But still in the lights' neon glow, if you stop and listen just so,
Even all those years on you can still him him roar. ROAR!!
As he stirs in his sleep far below.

Elliemae Well I looked in the mirror as at a stop sign I sat,
And I saw your reflection and I knew just like that.
Waiting 'round town for hours, in the hope you may be,
Just 'round the next corner waiting like me.
And all at once there you was now, and my time it stood still,
But the words that were needed they were lost, never found, never will.

Cos I need you tonight
I want you to stay
I can't wait any longer
I need you tonight Elliemae.

I gave my love from a distance and I never did tell.
Too frightened of finding, so mixed up as well.
And my friends they are saying to keep away.
But I can't help but thinking that you'll haunt me someday.

Cos I need you tonight
I want you to stay
I can't wait any longer
I need you tonight Elliemae.

Friends Like

These

Often feel like I'm living alone
Surrounded by people with no one to phone.
And just when you think it's all fine,
Life catches up all the time.
It's times like these that seem so dark,
Despite how you try you can't raise a spark.
Who needs days like these?

An off chance meeting a tumble of fate,
Who'd have thought you'd find redemption straight through your front gate.
A smile and a wave mean so much,
So much understanding from the slightest touch.
A haven from fear a port in the storm.
A fellowship dear, a place to keep warm,
We need days like these.

And I know what you'll say,
There's nothing special here.
Sometimes it's hard to see the wonder before your eyes.
I'm not building you up just so I can knock you down,
It's simply a truth that I've found,
We need friends like these.

A burden you've carried for oh so long,
Children are stolen and what's right feels so wrong.
Despite all you've been through you still smile,
Find time to hold onto others make their time feel worthwhile,
And even on a rainy Cornish day,
There's love in the air when Mr. Chips is at play
We need friends like these.

Lament of the

Sea Queen

In a far away kingdom did a maiden reside.
There an old spinning wheel lies by her side.
A sailor did leave her for a land full of gold.
Now she spins all her stories from the lies that he told.

He swore that he'd bring her a sure footed mare,
With a mane of pure gold to match her white hair.
But deceit was his nature and folly his game,
And so he did leave her with naught but black shame.

But he should have known that one fair as she,
Was not of mortal birth but a Queen of the Sidhe.
And so she did spin her a storm raging wide,
And his ship it did wreck as the salt tears she cried.

Now if you venture to a land far away.
And there on one night into a field you may stray,
There meet a maiden with eyes old and sad
Tell her no lies and your heart maybe glad.

Sail Away My heart's far away across the sea, there in the land where I long to be,
It's been three years now since I went away, since my true love asked, "My darling won't you stay?"
The summer I left the roses all in bloom, a tear in your eye as I walked cross the room,
But America was calling me to a better life, so I packed my bags left my child and my wife

Sail away boys to California,
Sail me true 'though I'm all alone,
Wait for me 'til the roses are blooming.
When the wind turns east I'll be coming home.

I know you left me for all good reason, you promised you'd return in one year and a day.
But the baby's three now and I'm still waiting, the roses they bloomed but you'd gone away.
It's hard being patient leaving with a dream, when your cold and lonely and tired of the baby's scream.
Every sail into the harbour never comes with you, though you promised me dear your vow was untrue.

Sail him back boys from California,
Sail him true cos I'm here alone,
I'll be waiting where the roses are blooming,
When the wind turns east he'll be coming home.

I never lied I kept my promise, just one drink before my ship set sail,
Cross words for no reason bring a bitter harvest, a single gun shot and I'm turning pale.

A single rose lies upon the altar, in the church yard a woman's lonely grave,
Sometimes the waiting can't be forever a young child she cries trying so hard to be brave.

Sail away boys though we've been parted.
Sail us back boys to the land in the west.
Sail us boys where the roses are blooming.
Once more together we will find our rest.

Song of the Sidhe Deep as the sea we sing,
As high as the moon we sing,
Dreaming of golden skies,
We try to forget your lies.

As old as the hills,
As young as the rain,
We sing through the joy and dance through the pain.

In twilight we dwell unseen,
Destined to live in-between,
An echo is all that you hear,
A breath as we draw so near.

A whispering wind,
A quivering leaf,
Below the above and above the beneath.

Look for our light in the hills,
Our song can be heard there still.

As old as the sky,
As young as the day,
Endlessly wise but losing the way.

Children of gods we know,
The paths that you've trod we know.
Longing to breath once more,
The cool air of your blessed shore.

As old as the hills,
As young as the rain,
We sing through the joy and dance through the pain.

Sleepers And so my dearest friend, we've come to this again do you remember?
The night before a fight I watch the campfire's light try to remember.
We've all been here before outside the ancient door just like the first time.
And always real the memories that I feel just like the first time.

How many times, how many rhymes?
To tell the story that we've played, the true and the betrayed.
The many few, the last who do,
Craft the story dance the dance, find the answers make a chance.

Again you came, your eyes the same, don't want to lose you.
We've walked the shore, I sing of nevermore so scared to lose you.
Can this be right, to walk through day and night to open the magicks?
The wolf that leads, the blood stained fields that open the magicks.

How many times, how many rhymes?
To find the reason and the rhyme,to balance out the hands of time.
The many few, the last who do,
Take a moment save the day, hear the prayers of yesterday.

And when at last our time has passed will the sleep come?
To heal the land our warrior band we dream of the sleep come.
As memories stray the shadows all are laid we wait for a calling.
To feel the same, to rise again, wait for the calling.

How many times, how many rhymes?
'Til I hold you once again, 'til we dance in summer glen.
The many few, the last who do,
Return when needed most to restore the ways we've lost.

The Highwayman Do you remember me? Do I remind you of another man?
It's been a lovely night, now i think it's time for you to understand.
You see I swore that day I would return to claim my prize.
Laid to rest in an unmarked grave, ever restless ever biding time.

I'm the Highwayman you stop when I demand,
I've come to claim my prize.
You never cried when you saw me hang,
Never told no one you were going to be my bride.

I see you recognise, though the words you're saying "is this just a game?"
Now you're starting to feel unnerved, hey girl shall I whisper your name ?
Sarah Jane that was the day you swore to be my bride,
And twas for the love of you that I took that last ride.

I'm the Highwayman you stop when I demand,
I've come to claim my prize.
You never cried when you saw me hang
Never told no one you were going to be my bride.

Wings of

Yesterday

Marti sits in a bar but he's always alone,
There's so many people but they're living in a life of their own.
It's too late to sleep, too early to rise.
Marti's a big man, but there's tears in his eyes.

Everything's changed not the same anymore,
It's the same routine both sides of the door.
And he's building his dreams in the shape of a plane that he'll fly away.
Marti's building the wings of his yesterdays.

Skin pictures of visions that he'll never find,
Sold to a Dutch man to keep his last dreams alive.
He's only young but already too old,
His life's adventures for security sold.

Everything's changed not the same anymore,
It's the same routine both sides of the door.
And he's building his dreams in the shape of a plane that he'll fly away.
Marti's building the wings of his yesterdays.

Is it pure obsession, or merely a lie?
And the child that wakes him, must not see him cry.
He wonders sometimes, but he can't give it up.
Not when the next shift is starting in just four more coffee cups.

Everything's changed not the same anymore,
It's the same routine both sides of the door.
And he once put all his dreams in the shape of a plane he'll never fly away.
Marti's building the wings of his yesterdays.

Everything's changed not the same anymore,
It's the same routine both sides of the door.
And he's building his dreams in the shape of a plane that he'll fly away.
Marti's building the wings of his yesterdays.
